This project is about understanding the differences that divide us while recognizing that the world needs both East and West to improve the human condition.

Michael Newell

Michael is the grandson and nephew of a staunchly traditional Catholic family, the son of an education professor and a religious education administrator, and the brother of an exercise physiologist. A lover of fantasy and comics as a child, Michael grew up wanting to learn about far away places, and as a result earned two degrees in international relations and a spot in the Syracuse University political science doctoral program. His curiosities include social justice, constructivist political theory, cosmopolitanism and international cooperation.

Arvind Suguness

Arvind is the son of Sri Lankan Tamil immigrants. He is a first year medical student at Wright State University, insect enthusiast, musician and general politics nerd. At the age of 13 he had his first political argument with his father, and he has not stopped since. He is interested in health care, economic inequality and criminal justice reform.
